Star Wars Miniatures – The usual Tuesday games are back!

star_wars_miniatures_logo.gif After the downfall of the 4th edition D&D game, Fred and I have been getting together again for Star Wars Miniatures on Tuesdays. I don’t remember much about our games last week other than me losing pretty terribly while using Emperor Palpatine on Throne (and talking in his voice saying silly things). It seemed like I had trouble rolling over a 9 on a 20-sided die in most situations.

This week, however, it seemed like roles were reversed and Fred had trouble with his dice. We ended up playing two games. (more…)

wotrrulebook_873x627.jpg I went over to the Game Preserve up at Keystone yesterday to meet up with the regular War of the Ring play group consisting of Jeff, JR and Dan. After BS’ing about the game and some of the armies and rules, Dan challenged me to a game. He brought in some Rohan to beef up his Gondor army to 430 points. He purchased a Fortune to even things up a little more. Here are our lists:

L5R – Played a game, did some trades

l5r-logo-web So I went to Games To Die For last night while the (awesome) wife was at Yoga class. Normally, Wednesdays are Magic and Roleplaying day, but with the new excitement over Legend of the Five Rings, I figured there’d be at least one or two people there wanting to play some L5R.

I picked up the Lion starter as I’d heard it came with 4 rares rather than the 3 most others have. I didn’t get much to help my deck except the fixed 3x card called ‘A Legion of One’, which helps my Heroes. However, over the course of the evening, I acquired a ‘Setting Sun Strike’ and three copies of ‘Dangerous Reconnaisance’.

Mike Morgan and I played another game, but this time I played Crab and he played his Spider Clan deck. (more…)

wotrrulebook_873x627.jpg Over the long weekend, I met up with some old friends to play some War of the Ring and show John whatthe game is all about. Tim had come down from Chi-town and JR had some time off from his chef job. We had agreed ahead of time to play 1,000 points; Elves versus their combined forces of Easterlings and Goblins. Since we were trying to show John the rules, we went with a ‘pitched battle’ scenario rather than confusing things with the scenarios from the book. Here is what I recall of their lists:

Oh no! L5R has me! Again!

l5r-logo-web I went to Games To Die For last night with the intent of playing Star Wars Miniatures, but no one showed up. I think interest in the game has waned for the three of us who played regularly. Much like the RPG, I guess.

It seems the new edition of AEG’s Legend of the Five Rings, called Celestial Edition, was just released. Something about starting from scratch with a game I started playing back in Gold Edition is appealing. I seem to do this just about every edition since with me playing the game for varying intervals.
