I did quit quite a while back, but with Mark II and a friend who's really into it got me to want to play again. I decided to switch factions, though, since I've had like 3 or 4 iterations of the Cryx army. Thanks for the offer, man!! I'm hoping I can try making it up north on Tuesdays again to play WM/H with you guys...assuming you guys still play.

Hey! I thought you quit Warmachine and got rid of all your stuff. Why the sudden reversal?

Sounds like you do have a metric tonne of stuff for Khador. I have stuff I will never use again, so if for some reason you are lacking in a Khador model, hit me up and I'll see if I have it.

I managed to build some Maneaters over the weekend from Bull/Ironguts bits and some Empire stuff I had lying around. They look pretty cool and are ready to take the field!

I'm no Warhammer expert, I just read forums and such and try to glean from them things that will help me play the Ogres better. The way I have my units, they are all pretty small and between having the Tyrant/Bruiser as my General and a BSB, most of them should rally from fleeing fairly easily. Yes, the Leadership isn't the best, but I kinda like the idea of big brutish Ogres being crafty in their ways of winning battles. I may build a couple of standards and see what happens, though.

Thanks for the advice!!

Bait and flee makes sense with the small units and will help with grabbing the charge, but man its risky with so few units and such a mediocre leadership... unless you play tightly around your general. As for the standards, just remove them as your first casualty. If you are getting beat up enough to lose an ogre, you're probably going to flee. If the model dies before you flee from combat, the opponent does not capture the banner.

Man eater units can be pretty buff too.

Hey, Jeremy!!
People have recommended the Scraplauncher. I'll look into that.
The Bellowers are there for bait & flee tactics. I don't know about standards. I wouldn't want to give away 100 VP per standard. I may try them after playing a few more games.
Gorgers are on my 'to get' list for sure.
I'd really like to get in a game with ya!

Hey man,
Its Jeremy. I've been keeping an eye on your blog lately and thought I'd chime in about the ogres. Marth and I have an OK army as well and they can be tricky to use, but they are a blast nonetheless. I think your heart is in the right place with the leadbelchers. They are fantastic flank guard. I'd also consider picking up the scrap launcher as its amazing. Finally, if you have the models, I'd swap the bellowers for standards. Ogres hurt on combat res and rely on wounds to win battles, which is uncertain. At least with the standard you are guaranteed one point. Just make sure if you're fighting a losing battle you kill off the battle standard BEFORE any other units to prevent it being snagged for victory points.

Gorgers are also great.

Glad to hear you're enjoying the game. Maybe when time clears up here in bloomington we can get together for a game.

Good to hear you'll be back soon. We've missed ya!!

My honest opinion of the new Confrontation rules is that they are a new game. It is not an upgrade (or downgrade) of the C3/3.5 rules. I look at it as more of a version of WHFB than anything. The character and unit names are the same, but just about everything else is new. It's more like AT-43 than anything as far as mechanics.

If you keep that in mind, then you can see that these new rules are actually quite fun. Joel and I have played several times and I've yet to feel like I was getting beat because of the rules as opposed to my bad tactical decisions. The game plays pretty quick and has a large emphasis on scenarios rather than wiping out your opponent.

I like the rules a lot and I'm sure I'll like them more when the "real" rulebook comes out and there's less question of what will be changed (no Elixir for casting) or what has been misinterpreted.

Of course, we'll be more than glad to give you a demo when you return.
