Star Wars Saga RPG – Starting over in a new era…
by Totengraber on Sep.10, 2009, under Roleplaying
With the downfall of the previous Star Wars Saga Edition RPG Dawn of Defiance campaign, I decided to start over in a whole new era. It seemed like folks wanted to do some Jedi action, but were restricted by the time period DoD is set in (between Episode III and Episode IV). After having read the Tales of the Jedi comics, I decided this would be a great era to do a campaign in. There’s plenty of Jedi all around and plenty of dark side Jedi to fight against. Not to mention the Mandolorians who may show up as well. With the different paths Jedi can take, it seemed like the most logical course of action. (continue reading…)
Disappointment

Again we had just a few people for the Star Wars RPG. Joel, Fred and Morgan were there to play last night. No word from Fuller, Dave or Chris. I assume Chris is out due to his new child. Dave and Fuller I don’t know. At least Joe posted on the G2D4 forum saying he wouldn’t be there, which I take as interest and courtesy.
We’ll be trying again next time (7/1), which should have Joel, Fred, Joe, Morgan (?) and maybe Bryan. These guys all seem to be really into the game, so this will probably end up being the “core” group.
Here’s to hopin’.
This is almost getting ridiculous

So I assumed since Dave canceled the D&D game for last night and I’d PM’d Fred over at the Wizards Star Wars Miniatures board that we’d be playing Star Wars Miniatures. I guess I assumed incorrecty. I didn’t hear a peep from Fred or Joe regarding SWM.
I did end up watching a pretty cool 15mm historicals game called Field of Glory made by Osprey. (continue reading…)
Star Wars RPG Saga Edition – 3rd session on part 2 of Dawn of Defiance
by Totengraber on Jun.04, 2009, under Roleplaying
I started a Star Wars Saga Edition game a few months ago using the Dawn of Defiance campaign put out by Wizards of the Coast free on their website. So far, we have gotten through the first part, Trator’s Gambit and have started A Wretched Hive where the players are in a Hutt palace on Neimoidia. We’ve played this part for three sessions now and have almost come to the end.
The campaign started with about 8 people and has fluctuated between 4 and 6 per session, which I run every other Wednesday. Over that time, I feel like my GM skills have improved and every session I see areas that can improve. However, it is a bit demoralizing when some people either don’t want to show up or can’t show up and can’t be bothered to call either me or the store to let me know they aren’t showing. I waited around until 7pm waiting for people last night and ended up with just 4 players, one of which just started last session.
Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition – I dove in
by Totengraber on May.26, 2009, under Roleplaying
It seems like a lot of roleplaying has kinda jumped into my gaming life lately. I’m not sure I’ll post about it all that much, but I figured this time is appropriate.
I was invited by Dave, one of the employees at Games To Die For, to play in his 4th edition D&D game. Originally, I wasn’t too sure about it as all the opinions I’d heard about this edition so far have said it’s like World of Warcraft: The RPG; basically, it’s a video game on paper. I have so far watched a session and played in one and it seems like good ol’ D&D with a few enhancements. Granted, the whole “powers” thing can feel like the action bar in WoW, but D&D has had “once per encounter” and “at will” powers for a while, they just weren’t called that. “Marking” felt like WoW at first, but the difference is really plain when you look at it.
